School of Social Welfare Student News AWARDS Roberta Owens, BSW received the Student of the Year Award from the National Association of Social Workers New York State Suffolk Division in October. She graduated from the Arts Institute in Atlanta with her Associate degree in Fashion Merchandising and Retail. She went on to earn her Bachelors degree in Social Work and Community and Human Service from Empire State College. Roberta is currently pursuing her MSW here in the School of Social Welfare. She has a strong background in her community activism due to her many years of work with her mother and mentor the late Elsie Owens.
