A brief chapter up-date
In April 2005 an ad hoc board of directors came together to reinvigorate the Dental Medicine Alumni Chapter. The group had representation generally reflecting the age, gender and geographic distribution of our alumni and assumed the leadership roles in an acting capacity.
The members included:

Classes 93-04, Anthony Fazio '96
This group of dedicated alumni’s stated purpose was to reinvigorate alumni pride in their affiliation with the School of Dental Medicine through improved communication and greater involvement with students. Engaging alumni in social and educational activities and events involving students would be a priority. A very energetic membership committee (Anthony Fazio, Steve Schwartz and Rhona Sherwin) vigorously recruited members, and proudly, the School of Dental Medicine has the highest percentage of chapter members among the HSC schools.
Within the first year this group drafted by laws that were reviewed and then voted on by the membership. (click here to review the by-laws) located at the end of this draft The by-laws were passed unanimously and based on the by-laws a general election was held. In March 2006 a proxy and ballot along with candidate summaries were sent to all paid members of the Dental Medicine Alumni Inner Circle. The election results were tallied in May and the following were unanimously elected:

The Officers and Board are dedicated to building membership, providing events and educational opportunities of value to the membership and to engage students to become involved alumni. In the past year the board has met regularly and maintained minutes (click here to review minutes). They have supported the Senior Send-off, student year book, white coat ceremony, an educational/social gathering following the Greater New York Dental Meeting, and sold out Staller Center Event. This fall they are engaging the 4th year students with a welcome back party, the incoming students at a new student orientation event. Board members are showing their involvement with the dedication of an alumni wall at the school scheduled for early September 2006. |
