A IADR/AADR Student Research Fellowships- International Association for Dental Research & American Association for Dental Research
· Each fellowship consists of a stipend $2,100 and each preceptor receives an award of $300 for supplies. Winners will be announced at the AADR annual meeting. · Eligibility: Students who are interested must be sponsored by a faculty member in the dental school and submit research proposal to the AADR Fellowhips Committee. · Deadline: Varies annually. B NIDCR Summer Dental Student Award- National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research
· Qualified students will spend a minimum of 8 weeks during the summer doing research at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. This award is designed to promote the professional careers of talented dental students through exposure to the latest advances in oral health research and administration. The awarded students will be assigned to a mentor and research project that correspond to their qualifications and interests. · Eligibilty: Students must be enrolled on accredited U.S. dental schools. U.S. citizenship or permanent residence is required. Applicant’s dental school must agree to provide travel support. · Deadline: 1. C Howard Hughes Medical Institute-National Institute of Health (NIH) Research Scholars Program · Qualified students will spend a year at the Cloister in Bethesda, MD for the program. Annual salary of $17,800 with fully-paid medical insurance and round-trip moving expenses from dental school or your last residence, back to dental school or your next residence. On-campus housing is available for interested students with monthly rent ranging from $100-370. Scholars may also apply for an award that provides funding for up to two remaining years of dental school. Previous awardees have received $21,000 stipend and $16,000 cost-of-education allowance. · Eligibility: Student must be in good standing at dental school and not enrolled in D.D.S./Ph.D program or have a Ph.D or Sc.D in laboratory-based biological science. Ideal time to apply would be after second or third year of dental school. D Clinical Research Training Program at NIH
· Small year long program designed to attract the most creative research-oriented dental students to the intramural campus of the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. Fellows will spend a year in a mentored clinical research project in an area that matched their personal interests and goals. CRTP fellows will receive an annual stipend of $27,000 from NIH. · Eligibility: Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or permanent residence. E Clinical Elective Program
· NIH offers a full complement of elective rotations for third- and fourth-year students in dental schools in the United States at the Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center, a 250-bed hospital located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. These rotations offer students in-depth exposure in the following subspecialties: alcoholism, anesthesiology, craniofacial biology, critical care medicine, endocrinology and metabolism, hematology, infectious diseases, internal medicine, medical genetics, medical informatics (spring only), medical oncology, medical or surgical neurology, neurolaryngology, neuroscience, nuclear medicine, otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, pathology, pediatric endocrinology, pediatric oncology, pediatric pychopharmacology, psychiatry/psychopharmacology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology and urologic oncology. · Eligibility : Applicants must be enrolled in accredited dental school. · Deadline: Applications should be submitted three months in advance of the preferred start date for a specific clinical elective or research tutorial.
