For specific course requirements, please see that section. Remember that you might need to take additional courses not listed on this sheet in order to reach the 57 credit minimum.

Minimum required courses include: 3 credits English composition; 6 credits in arts and humanities (excluding studio, skills, or technique courses); 6 credits social and behavioral sciences (including 3 credits of general psychology completed with a grade of "C" or better), 8 credits in biology (to include 4 credits in human physiology); 8 credits in chemistry; 8 credits in physics; and 3 credits of calculus. Science classes must have labs. Please note that Stony Brook University requires prerequisites for many of these courses that are above the required minimum.

The Athletic Training Program at Stony Brook also requires students to be certified in First Aid and CPR. HAL 210, Emergency Care of Athletic Injuries, is a prerequisite 3 credit course offered at Stony Brook that will teach you the skills you need and also count toward the minimum of 57 completed credits required of all applicants.

Admission into the Athletic Training Program at Stony Brook also requires students to fill a requirement of 50 observation hours with a certified athletic trainer (ATC).

The application process includes an interview with the ATP Admissions Committee.
