Marilyn Lawler Haig is a Lecturer in the School of Health Technology and
Management. She received her degrees at Stony Brook, earning a Bachelor
of Arts degree in the Humanities with a concentration in International Relations,
a NYS Advanced Certificate in Management/Labor Relations, and an MPS degree
in Management/Labor Relations with a concentration in Human Resource Management
and Organization Development. She is currently pursuing additional certification
as an executive coach. She has 25 years of experience in consulting and
administration and has been responsible for organization development, the
design and delivery of training programs and activities, training needs
assessment, skill assessment, competency assessment and succession planning
for a variety of organizations.
Ms. Haig holds memberships with the American Society for Training and Development
and the American College of Health Care Executives. When not teaching graduate
courses for the Health Care Management and Policy program, Marilyn is Director
of Corporate Education and Training at Stony Brook University Hospital where
she has established a training and development function to serve the professional
development needs of a diverse population of 4,500 employees in administrative,
academic and healthcare roles.
Professor Haig serves on several Hospital committees including the C.A.R.E.
Steering Committee, Leadership Development Committee, JCAHO Human Resources
Functional Workgroup, HIPAA Training Sub-Committee, and the Quality of Work
Life Committee.
