Dr. Rice is the director of the Master of Science in Health Care Policy and Management Program and the coordinator of the community health concentration in the Master of Public Health Program. After receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree from Rutgers University, Dr. Rice practiced as a clinical physician assistant while obtaining a Master of Science in Health Sciences Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. She received a PhD in Health Education from New York University in 1994.

In 1979, Dr. Rice joined the faculty of the School of Health Technology and Management and became the program director of the Health Care Policy and Management program in 1989. For the past ten years she has been an executive advisor for Stony Brook’s Dietetic Internship Program. She has participated in grant and research activities in health promotion/disease prevention, gerontology, health education, health communications, leadership, and medical ethics education. She continues to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public health, community health, communications, and health care ethics.

Dr. Rice lives in Setauket with her husband and two sons.
