Fred S. Sganga, CHE, is the Executive Director of the Long Island State Veterans Home at Stony Brook University in New York. Over the past twenty-one years, Mr. Sganga has worked in a variety of senior level health care positions in hospitals, nursing homes, and physician practice management. Mr. Sganga earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Hunter College and his Master’s of Public Health from Columbia University. In 2005, he was selected as the Three Village Times Herald’s “Man of the Year” in health care; he was previously chosen as Hofstra University’s MHA Program Professor of the Year. In addition, Fred was honored by the Veterans Administration for his service and dedication to the veteran population with the 2004 Community Recognition Award. Mr. Sganga has also been honored with the Metropolitan Health Administrators Association Award of Distinction in 2000, recognizing his significant contributions to the advancement of health care administration in the Greater New York area. He currently serves as adjunct professor in the Health Care Administration Program at Hofstra University and in Stony Brook University’s MS in Health Care Policy and Management program. Mr. Sganga was elected to a three-year term as Regent for the American College of Health Care Executives, representing the Long Island area. Mr. Sganga resides in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, with his wife, Marianne and daughters Danielle and Nicole.
