Jamie Geraci comes to the faculty full time as of October 2007 in the capacity as Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor. Prior to October 2007, Professor Geraci was an adjunct faculty member since the OT program’s inception in 1996. She teaches the Mental Health courses, inclusive of Basic Concepts, Theory and Practice along with Case Studies. Beginning Spring 2008, Professor Geraci will be teaching Professional Behaviors II to assist in the preparation of students for Fieldwork II. She is responsible for all aspects of fieldwork.

After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from York College of CUNY, Professor Geraci began a 27 year clinical practice in Mental Health. She comes to the OT program from Stony Brook University Hospital as the Associate Director of Occupational Therapy in the Department of Psychiatry. Her clinical expertise is in the areas of Adult Inpatient and Day Treatment. She developed the OT student affiliation program at SBUH in 1982 and has consistently trained students since that time. In 1999, Professor Geraci joined the Roster of Accreditation Evaluators of ACOTE [Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education] and became an invited member of that council in 2001 and currently is serving a second term.

Professor Geraci holds a Master’s of Science degree in Health Care Policy and Management from Stony Brook University.
