Diane Ranieri

Diane Ranieri, MA, RPAC

Diane Ranieri received her initial Bachelor of Art degree in French and Elementary Education from Stony Brook University and taught first and third grades for eleven years. During that time she received her Master of Art degree from Stony Brook University. Diane graduated from the Stony Brook Physician Assistant Program in 1985 and was on the faculty of the Stony Brook Physician Assistant Program from 1990 through 1993. She rejoined the faculty in December of 2003.

Diane’s responsibilities at the Stony Brook PA Program include co-coordination and teaching of the GU Reproductive and Sexual Health course, and coordination of the Pediatric and Gastrohepatology clinical medicine units as well as teaching the Ethics and Health Care course.  She also lectures in the Infectious Diseases and Dermatology clinical medicine units and in the Diagnostic Imaging course.  During the clinical phase of the program, she supervises of the Obstetrics and Gynecology clerkships. She serves as Vice Chair of the SHTM’s Academic Standing Committee and is an affiliated faculty member in the Center for Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care and Bioethics.

Diane’s clinical experience includes work in interventional radiology at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, inpatient pediatrics and neonatology at Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut and pediatric AIDS at Beth Israel Medical Center. She completed the HIV Clinical Scholars Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. This two-year fellowship is sponsored by the AIDS Institute/New York State Department of Health and trains clinicians in all aspects of the care of HIV infected individuals.  She currently works part time in a local pediatric practice.  

In addition to teaching at the Stony Brook Physician Assistant Program, Diane was an Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator at the Pace University-Lenox Hill Hospital Physician Assistant Program in New York. She has also worked as a consultant for the New York Academy of Medicine and, in that capacity, authored an HIV curriculum for Physician Assistant Programs.

In her free time, Diane enjoys reading, taking dance classes, attending ballet performances and visiting museums.
