Master Project Course Descriptions

HAP 561 Masters Project I (1 credit)
Students will work with a faculty mentor to shape their clinical question and perform an initial literature search on a topic of interest . Topics should be well-focused, and may include psychosocial, economic, or ethical issues in health care as well as diagnostic or treatment-related questions. Following review by their faculty mentor(s), the student will write an initial draft to be used as a basis for the final paper on the approved topic.
HAP 562 Masters Project II (1 credit)
Students will work with their faculty mentor(s) to refine the clinical question and revise the paper submitted at the end of Masters Project I. Emphasis will be placed on thoroughness of the literature search and clarity of the paper. By the completion of this course students should have the paper in its final form and have developed a draft of a formal Powerpoint presentation summarizing the topic and investigative process.
HAP 563 Masters Project III (1 credit)
Students will review their Powerpoint presentation with the faculty committee, who will guide them in developing a concise, professional-appearing product, suitable for presentation at a professional conference. Students will present this to the faculty and other members of the class, and will be evaluated on both the visual and oral components of their work.
