Lorraine Danowski earned a B.S.
in Clinical Dietetics from the State University College at Oneonta in 1983
and an M.S. Degree in Medical Biology/Nutritional Science from C.W. Post/Long
Island University in 1986.
Lorraine has many years of clinical
experience and has worked as a nutrition support dietitian prior to becoming
an internship coordinator. She has served as president and secretary of
the Long Island Society for Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition (LISPEN)
and has authored and co-authored nutrition “Selections” for
Family Practice on breastfeeding practices, obesity treatment, and Celiac
disease.
In addition to her teaching responsibilities in the nutrition concentration,
Lorraine also mentors graduate practicum projects and coordinates the Dietetic
Internship. As a faculty member with the Department of Family Medicine,
Lorraine provides nutritional counseling to patients diagnosed with Celiac
disease, ALS, obesity, and a variety of other conditions.
Lorraine helps coordinate the ALS clinic that serves the patients and families
on Long Island. She spends her free time with her husband, daughter, and
son.
