Dr. Blatt received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from SUNY Buffalo in 1987 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from SUNY Buffalo in 1988. She went on to receive a Master of Science degree in Health Care Policy and Management with a focus in education in 2001 and a post-professional DPT degree in 2005, both from Stony Brook University. She has clinical experience in the provision of physical therapy services in the outpatient setting, as well as the acute and home care settings. Dr. Blatt has extensive experience in the area of chronic pain and occupational health, working six years in a Return-to-Work program at University Hospital. She has also acted as a consultant in the role of injury prevention in the workplace.
Dr. Blatt joined the Physical Therapy faculty in 1995 as Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education. In this role, she is responsible for the administration and coordination of the four clinical practice courses in the entry level curriculum. In an effort to enhance the clinical experience for students of physical therapy, she became an American Physical Therapy Association Credentialed Trainer for the Clinical Instructor Credentialing Course in 2002. She also serves on the New York State Clinical Education Consortium.
Other program responsibilities include teaching the didactic courses related to the clinical education experiences. She teaches Teaching, Consulting and Communicating in Clinical Education before the first eight week clinical experience and Teaching Skills in Clinical Instruction before the second clinical experience. She also participates in Case Studies II, the case-based integrative course following the first year of professional study. Her research interests include aspects of clinical education and adult learning styles.
