Dr. Gostic received her Baccalaureate degree in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University in 1984. She went on to receive her Masters degree in Health Sciences with a focus in administration and education in 1991 and her transitional DPT degree from Stony Brook University in 2005. She completed the Long Island Geriatric Education Center Associate Program in 2003.
Dr. Gostic teaches Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology I and II, a year-long foundational course for first year DPT students. She also co-teaches Case Studies II, the case-based integrative course that follows the first year of professional study. She was an Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education in the DPT program from 2000-2010, completed the APTA CI Education and Credentialing Program, and served on the NY NJ Clinical Education Consortium from 2000 - 2010. Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Gostic worked as a physical therapist for University Medical Center at Stony Brook for 14 years, as a Senior PT on the cardiopulmonary service and in the Outpatient Physical Therapy Department. She has extensive clinical experience in the home care setting and currently works per-diem in the acute care setting at both Brookhaven Memorial Hospital and University Medical Center at Stony Brook.
Dr. Gostic’s scholarly interests are in physical therapy clinical education as well as in the role of exercise and physical activity in addressing obesity and type 2 diabetes.
