Mr. Stapleton joined the Department of Emergency Medicine in 1991.  Previously he was affiliated with Mr. Sinai School of Medicine and Booth Memorial Medical Center in Flushing.  He received his first EMT certification from the American College of Orthopaedic Surgeons at Columbia Presbyterian ands served with the US Army Medical Corps in Vietnam.  In the mid-70’s he was a member of the first paramedic unit operating in Manhattan within the 911 EMS system.  Mr. Stapleton is a leader in CPR education, both here in the U.S. as well as abroad.  He has held numerous leadership positions with the American Heart Association at the local, state, and national levels and is a member of the Professional Education Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of the Executive Council on Cardiopulmonary and Critical Care.  Mr. Stapleton wrote and edited all BLS Support materials for the AHA’s Emergency Cardiovascular Care Program.
