Dr. Wackett joined the faculty at Stony Brook in 2001 and became the Associate Residency Program Director later that year.  In 2003, he was appointed Director of Undergraduate Medical Education.

Dr. Wackett's interests include medical education.  In addition, to his clerkship and residency responsibilities, he directs both a physical diagnosis course and clinical reasoning course for first and second year medical students.  Additionally, he teaches residents and medical students of all levels in the department's high fidelity medical simulator.  Finally, Dr. Wackett is actively pursuing research in medical education, especially in regard to procedural proficiency, advanced cardiac life support training and simulation medicine.
