STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY DIETETIC INTERNSHIP
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Our final deadline for all applications will be February 17, 2009.....but qualified applicants who apply early to Stony Brook's Dietetic Internship will be granted telephone interviews before the February 17 D&D application deadline.

(Complete applications from qualified applicants must be received by Stony Brook Dietetic Internship by January 26 to be eligible for an early interview.)

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • ADA Verification Statement of Completion of Dietetic Program or Declaration of Intent to Complete Degree.
  • All required didactic coursework must be completed before the start of Stony Brook’s Summer Session II (approximate date is July 6).
  • For admission requirements for the MS program, refer to the MS application guide available online at  http://www.hsc.stonybrook.edu/shtm/  (choose Health Care Policy and Management).
  • Note:  the Graduate Record Examination is required for MS Program (Options II or III).  Test must be taken by February 15, 2009; scores reported by June 2009.
  • Note:  the one-year work experience required for the master’s program is waived if you are accepted into the Dietetic Internship.

 Note:  The Dietetic Internship Program at Stony Brook participates in the computer matching process with D&D Digital.

 

Each intern is required to have his/her own form of transportation, as many rotations will be completed outside the Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH).  Not all interns will complete their inpatient rotation at SBUH.

 

Any student who has taken classes at a foreign university must have his/her foreign transcript evaluated.   Students can go to www.wes.org to get information.  A course-by-course evaluation is required; evaluation must show a GPA.

 

All international students should contact International Services at 631-632-INTL (4685).

 

Applicants whose first or native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency prior to matriculation.  An applicant must present the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores of at least 550 (paper), 213 (computer), or IBT total of 90 with no subscore lower than these minimums:  Reading (22), Listening (21), Writing (25), and Speaking (22).

 

All accepted students are required by New York State law to file a completed health history and physical examination with Student Health Services.  Titers and a recent PPD Tuberculosis Mantoux (for TB) are required.
