- Department of Family Medicine - Health Sciences Center - Level 4
By car: Take Long Island Expressway east (Rt 495) to Exit 62 North. Take Nicolls Road (Route 97) north for 9 miles. You will cross over Route 347. Make a right at the first entrance to Stony Brook (SOUTH entrance); follow signs for the hospital. At the second light, make a left into the hospital parking (parking costs approximately $15 for the day).
*Park in the hospital parking lot and make your way to the main entrance. Make a left and follow the hallway down until you see elevators, the lobby and the cafeteria. Walk past the old gift shop and turn right and then left. You will see the escalators. (You can ask anyone where the escalators are.) Take the escalator down one level to Level 4 (you entered on Level 5). Turn right when you get off the escalator; walk to the end and then turn left and then make an immediate right into Family Medicine.
By train: Take the LIRR to Stony Brook. There are buses that run from the train station to campus. You want the bus that goes to the HOSPITAL/HSC (and then follow directions above * to Family Medicine). Tell the bus driver you are here as a potential student and have an interview; the driver should let you on the bus without any questions.
Another bus option is CHAPIN APARTMENTS - get off the bus here and walk across the main street to the HOSPITAL. Follow directions above * to Family Medicine.
A third bus option is to take a bus to the LIFE SCIENCES building. Across the street is a "tunnel" which will connect you to the other side of campus (side where hospital and HSC are located). Walk through the tunnel, up the ramp, walk diagonally across the patio. You will enter on Level 2 of the Health Sciences Center. Ask anyone where the escalators are; take escalator up to Level 4 - walk 20 feet, make a left, go to the end, make another left, a quick right, and you will be in Family Medicine.
