Family Medicine Center
The Family Medicine Center serves as the heart and soul of our residency program. At the center you will develop a panel of patients over the three years of your training that will become your patients. The Family Medicine Center located in East Setauket, New York, is just a few minutes by car from Stony Brook University Medical Center.
Our practice is comprised of patients seen by the faculty, residents and a nurse practitioner. The Family Medicine Center is a very busy practice with over 26,000 patient visits per year. The patients we serve are extremely diverse with an excellent variety of ages, ethnic backgrounds, and socioeconomic groups including the underserved. We participate in a wide variety of insurance plans for our patients including managed care plans as well as traditional insurance plans. Our patients have a wide range of medical problems including all the top diagnoses that are managed by family physicians.
In addition, we provide you with an excellent opportunity to develop your procedural skills giving you the confidence and competency to perform them in your practice. We have just implemented an electronic medical record (EMR) that will give you experience with the latest tools to manage and access your patient’s information from anywhere.
