Introduction

With many important publications, a strong graduate program, and as many as seven field expeditions annually, Stony Brook University is recognized internationally as a leading center of paleontological research and education. The SBU Fossil Vertebrate Preparation Laboratory, established in 2001 with funding from the National Science Foundation, serves faculty and students in the departments of Anatomical Sciences, Anthropology, and Ecology and Evolution, as well as their national and international collaborators. Lab staff, trained students, and volunteers engage in fossil preparation, molding, and casting to facilitate and augment SBU's paleontological research and education goals.
