Applications
To be eligible for a Fellowship, an
applicant should expect to have completed a three-year
medical residency and be board-eligible in Internal Medicine before starting the Fellowship.
We are one of the participating institutions
in the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS) sponsored
by the American Association of Medical Colleges. In order to maintain equality and best evaluate each individual applicant, all
communications are done through ERAS. No direct mailings are accepted outside of mailing our brochure to the applicants
that have requested them.
The application process should be initiated by the applicant. All letters of recommendation are to be sent to your Dean’s
Office and they will be responsible for sending them to us through ERAS. We do not want letters of recommendation mailed
directly to us. The
only additional piece of information that we require in that you request an official transcript of your board scores from the
various steps of the USMLE to be sent DIRECTLY to us by the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME). Simply to provide
us with the scores in you personal statement does not suffice. The request for an official transcript can be done through
your Dean’s Office and will be sent to us electronically by the NBME. After review of your completed application,
we will offer a select pool of applicants to interview at Stony Brook via e-mail.
