Research Facilities

The Division of Nephrology and Hypertension occupies approximately 3,500 sq ft of laboratory space comprising both individual investigator laboratories, and shared common space on the 15th floor of the Health Sciences Center adjacent to University Medical Center. At the VAMC at Northport it occupies an additional 2,500 sq ft of laboratory space in Building 61. Equipment and support personnel are available for the execution of sophisticated research that encompasses the whole animal through to the cellular and molecular level.

The School of Medicine and University support a number of core facilities that expedite research efforts. These include the University Microscopy Center equipped with confocal and electron microscopes. In addition facilities exist for peptide synthesis, peptide/protein sequencing, oligonucleotide sequencing, and hybridoma production. A trangenic mouse facility also exists. An NIH funded General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) is available to all investigators who wish to partake in clinical studies.
