EXPERT IN EPILEPSY AND NEUROLOGICAL DISORDERS JOINS STONY BROOK UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Dr. David J. Anschel Will Head Comprehensive Epilepsy Center
STONY BROOK, N.Y., August 2004 —
David J. Anschel, M.D., an expert in the treatment of epilepsy and other neurological disorders,
has joined Stony Brook University as an Assistant Professor of Neurology and will spearhead the
new Long Island Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Stony Brook University Hospital. Dr. Anschel
also will conduct clinical and basic science research at Stony Brook's School of Medicine and
Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Dr. Anschel previously directed
the epilepsy and adult neurology clinic at Agnews Developmental Center in San Jose,
California, and was also co-founder and co-director of the spasticity treatment
program there. A board-certified neurologist with more than 20 scientific papers,
abstracts, and book chapters to his credit, Dr. Anschel is the author of a popular
book commonly used by medial students in neurology training.
He graduated Summa Cum Laude from
SUNY Buffalo in 1993 and earned his Medical Doctorate from New York University in
1998. He also received post doctoral training at Harvard University's School of
Medicine and the Stanford University Medical Center.
