Description: The State University of New York at Stony Brook is seeking a BC/BE Stroke Fellow for July 2006. Our accredited Vascular Neurology program integrates the management of ischemic and hemorrhagic cerebrovascular disease in a JCAHO and Department of Health designated Stroke Center, with a unique patient care database application and a dedicated echo planar research MRI for diffusion and perfusion imaging, supplemented with non-invasive neurovascular evaluation. Faculty is board certified in Vascular Neurology.
There are multiple acute care and preventive clinical trials as well as a variety of laboratory imaging research. The stroke service works closely with neuroradiology, neurosurgery, and medicine to implement interventional and acute care services. Collaborative and independent research by the Fellow are strongly encouraged, especially if the available second year is elected. Description: A one or two year fellowship
in clinical Neurophysiology. Training includes EMG, adult, pediatric and
neonatal EEGs, ambulatory and video/EEG monitoring, evoked potentials
and polysomnography. Clinical research opportunities and experience in
a comprehensive epilepsy program are available. Board eligibility in Neurology
is required. The fellowship is leads to board eligibility for ABCN and
ABPN/Clinical Neurophysiology. A combined EEG/EMG 2 year fellowship would
be considered.

Description: A one or two year fellowship
in behavioral neurology is available in the Department of Neurology at
Stony Brook University. The fellowship offers clinical experience in the
evaluation and treatment of patients with neurobehavioral and neuropsychological
problems related to stroke, head injury, epilepsy, dementia, and other
disorders. The program incorporates a multidisciplinary approach including
neurology, psychiatry, neuropsychology, and cognitive rehabilitation.
The fellow will participate in weekly case management conferences, as
well as weekly case seminars. Research interests are directed at the cognitive
mechanisms of these disorders, and include opportunities to participate
in related projects in PET scanning at Brookhaven National Laboratories.
Applicants should be board eligible in Neurology.

Description: This is a two-year, full-time
training program. The goal of the program is provide the training to achieve
the advanced competencies necessary for the specialized practice of clinical
neuropsychology. This includes intensive training and experiential opportunities
in neuropsychological research as well as clinical work. The program has
been accepted for membership in the Association of Postdoctoral Programs
in Clinical Neuropsychology (APPCN).

Description: One or two year fellowship
in clinical neurorehabilitation are available for neurologists seeking
additional experience in managing patients in a rehabilitation setting.
Fellows work in the comprehensive rehabilitation center at the Northport
VA Medical Center and the rehabilitation service of the St. Charles Hospital.
Fellows receive training in EMG with Dr. Mark Kaufman. Fellows may elect
a second year or research in one of the laboratories in the Department
of Neurology at SUNY Stony Brook.
