Orthopaedic Rotation Objectives
General Objectives:
- Learn basic science concepts as they relate to specific clinical rotations.
- Master the basic surgical skills for each clinical area.
- Learn how to communicate with and educate patients.
- Become proficient diagnosticians who use appropriate lab and imaging studies.
- Understand how to make therapeutic rehabilitation choices that will facilitate
the achievement of successful, excellent, and functional outcomes. Understand the
need for pain control in order to achieve these goals.
- Learn by seeking advice from peers, senior residents, attendings, by reading
books such as basic textbooks, the master of techniques series, the OKU series,
by using online resources such as the Stony Brook on-line Journal resource, and
by attending and participating in teaching conferences and special courses.
- Understand the six competencies as they apply to the Orthopaedic Surgeon.
