The Dean is the senior academic officer responsible for facilitating every facet of education, clinical, community service and research programs under the auspices of the School of Medicine. The Office of Dean performs several functions:

• The planning, development, coordination and supervision of academic programs, support services, and operations.
• The supervision of the basic and clinical science departments activities.
• The promotion of community outreach and services for improved access to health care.
• The development and enhancement of the research and scientific mission to sustain an environment in which research can flourish.

The Office of the Dean also administers continuing medical education programs and clinical affiliations at Winthrop University Hospital, Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Northport, and Nassau University Medical Center.
