Student expense budgets are developed in accordance with Federal Regulations and include direct and indirect required educational expenses.
Direct educational expenses include tuition, fees, books and supplies. Indirect expenses include room, board, transportation, health care and insurance and miscellaneous personal expenses.
The budgets are indicative of the maximum amount of financial aid a student may receive in each academic year.
Certain assumptions are made when constructing standard budgets. Standard budgets are based on the expenses of single students with no dependents. Married students, or students with dependents, may request additional living expenses. It is also assumed that students will live in shared housing. Students living in single student housing may NOT request additional living expenses. Only shared housing expenses will be considered when awarding financial aid.
Students are advised to pay down or eliminate outstanding consumer debt. Credit card balances or monthly payments may NOT be included in student expense budgets.
