National Medical Fellowships

National Medical Fellowships (NMF) offers need-based awards to students enrolled in the first or second year of medical school.  These awards are granted on the basis of financial need as determined by the student’s total resources (including parental and spousal support), cost of education and receipt of other scholarships or grants.  All applicants are required to submit detailed financial aid applications with documentation of family financial resources and official financial aid transcripts for undergraduate and graduate education.

NMF’s need based scholarship, special merit award and fellowship programs are open to American citizens who are African-American, Mexican-American, Native American or mainland Puerto Rican.  Students are urged to request applications after they have received acceptance to medical school.  Scholarship applications are available through the Student Affairs Office.  The deadline for renewal applications is May 1, and for new applicants, August 31.

In addition to its need-based scholarship program, NMF administers a number of special award and fellowship programs that recognize and encourage extraordinary accomplishments.
